Conservative Groups Ratchet Up the Heat on Big Tech Companies Over Their Ties to the SPLC

Google, Facebook, Amazon and other Silicon Valley companies need to explain where they stand, Media Research Center (MRC) President Brent Bozell said in a press statement attached to the letter. His letter comes after Twitter told The Daily Caller News Foundation on April 7 that the company no longer uses SPLC to help censor hate speech on its platform.

It appears that conservative groups have been expressing concerns about big tech companies and their connections to the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC). The SPLC, a left-wing nonprofit group, has faced criticism for allegedly misleading liberal donors.

Some conservative voices are urging companies like Google and Amazon to distance themselves from the SPLC. At the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), elected officials have targeted big tech, discussing legal immunity under Section 230 and the challenges of creating a conservative “parallel economy” in the tech world.

While some startups have attempted to provide alternatives, the landscape remains complex and ever-changing.
